We are currently seeking a dedicated Naval Architect to join our dynamic team at Forexx. This role offers the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating with the Shipbuilding, Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation disciplines to enhance and innovate our shipbuilding processes.

About the job

The Naval Architect we are seeking will be based in Rotterdam Area and play a pivotal role in the creation and development of ship designs and specifications for both standard and new vessel projects.
This position involves hands-on work with design, specifications, drawings, and weight and stability calculations in accordance with established standards.
The ideal candidate will not only engage in the engineering of standard vessels but also contribute to the conceptual and detailed design of new vessels.


  • Creating and checking designs, specifications, drawings, and weight and stability calculations in line with regular standards.
  • Producing part and order lists and preparing technical specifications for purchase orders, ensuring alignment with specifications and project timelines.
  • Supporting the approval process with Class and National Authorities.
  • Registering and archiving designs, drawings, and project-related information.
  • Monitoring and recording engineering work hours to identify any discrepancies.
    Maintaining a focus on quality, striving to achieve a zero-defects output in all engineering deliverables.

About you

A completed technical oriented vocational education (HBO) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following professional experiences and achievements:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Good communication skills in English;
  • Quality consciousness and accuracy;
  • The ability to plan and organize your own work effectively;
  • Experience with software packages such as AutoCAD,
  • Cadmatic-Hull.

We support a prominent Dutch shipbuilding company with expanding their workboats division. Our client focuses on the construction of versatile workboats for various commercial and industrial purposes. These workboats are designed to support a wide range of tasks, such as transportation of personnel and cargo, dredging, towing, firefighting, and offshore operations.
