About the job

As an PI&D Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing marine systems specifications, designing systems, and crafting detailed system descriptions. You will support stakeholders on technical aspects and ensure alignment with project requirements and regulations.
Your role will involve developing engineering packages, updating them based on feedback, and ensuring compliance with all applicable standards.


  • Analyze and assess specifications and technical requirements related to marine systems integration, products, and processes within specified timelines and quality standards.
  • Develop and model basic engineering packages for marine systems based on customer requirements, regulations, and Damen Naval engineering standards, addressing feedback from customers and Class.
  • Update basic engineering packages and provide information and guidance to relevant internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Actively seek multidisciplinary interaction to ensure project solutions are in the best interest of overall project objectives.
  • Identify shortcomings, propose improvements, and contribute to project design reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable requirements and specifications.

About you

Technical Bachelor or Master degree combined with at least two years of relevant experience.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following professional experiences and achievements:

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems and marine systems.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
  • Experience in marine systems engineering on board vessels, familiarity with complex projects, and regulatory bodies.
  • Experience with marine systems engineering on board (naval) vessels and with complex projects and statutory bodies.

We support a prominent Dutch shipbuilding company with expanding their naval division. Our client which specializes in the construction of naval vessels. They design, build, and maintain a wide range of vessels for naval and government clients around the world. Their portfolio includes patrol boats, corvettes, frigates, amphibious vessels, and more.
